MAGNIN-A Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in the Armory Show, which will be held from September 8 to 11 at the Javits Center in New York City. We look forward to welcoming you at booth 415 to showcase the latest works of Jp Mika and Amadou Sanogo.

Jp Mika is developing a style of his own, centered on the portrait. He simplifies the scene and uses very colorful patterned fabrics as a background. This "discovery" and the perfect use of color give an energy to his work that stands out deeply. His very realistic compositions are no less benevolent and whatever his subject, he paints with softness and tenderness a modern, dynamic and joyful Africa. He is inspired by daily life, by Kinshasa in Democratic Republic of the Congo and its inhabitants, but also by historical events such as the independence of his country.

The works of the Malian painter, Amadou Sanogo, strike by the balance of the compositions and the unity of the background color. A character, more rarely two, stands out from a monochrome background on which is superimposed a square or a rectangle, often composed of repetitive motifs. Delicate color, expressionist forms, the paintings of Sanogo are carriers of signs that are as many meanings. Humanist and free-thinker, he also feeds on tradition as a source of knowledge, wisdom and inspiration.
