Regula Tschumi holds a doctorate in ethnology, and began taking photographs as part of her research into figurative coffins and palanquins in Ghana, carried out between 2003 and 2012. Although her images were initially intended for documentary purposes, they soon acquired an artistic dimension: exhibited in numerous museums, they were also published in various specialized works.
In parallel with his academic activities, Tschumi pursues a more personal approach to photography, as she travels. Her sensitive, poetic eye captures everyday life in Ghana with spontaneity, revealing through fleeting scenes the richness, beauty and complexity of Ghanaian culture.
